Congratulations to our 2025 Team Member of the 4th Quarter – John Tyndall

03-13-26

Paragon Bank is pleased to announce that John Tyndall, Vice President — Relationship Manager was selected by his peers as the Team Member of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Each quarter, Paragon Bank recognizes an employee for their outstanding performance in demonstrating Paragon’s values. At the end of the year, a Team Member of the Year is selected from the previous Quarter winners.

Tyndall, who has been with Paragon for almost 5 years, has primarily focused his efforts on growing and servicing residential home builders in southeastern North Carolina. After working in this arena at a previous bank, he continued to cultivate relationships with some of the top builders in the Wilmington area. Almost all of his relationships followed him to Paragon, which has allowed him to bring additional builders into his portfolio during his tenure.

“On a daily basis, I respond to their needs and simply make sure that they get what they need.  I manage new loan requests under their builder lines and ensure that access to those funds as quickly as possible so that the builder can complete construction and satisfy their customer’s needs/wants,” he explained. “I also monitor my customer’s financial performance and portfolio composition to ensure that Paragon’s high credit quality is not compromised.  I work with team members in Retail Banking, Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Deposit Operations, IT  & Treasury Management to make sure we deliver the highest quality banking experience for my customers.”

For Tyndall, he struggles to find ways to articulate his favorite thing about working at Paragon. Here, just hear it in his own words:

“I am in my twenty-ninth year as a banking professional.  The first quarter century, I worked for several banks that said they had a customer first approach – but they never did.  It was just something they put on a billboard.  Everyone I work with truly wants to deliver high quality banking products and back it up with elite service and they deliver on it every single day.  This allows us to simply crush our competition when it comes to service – they all want to do what Paragon does effortlessly – but due to structure or culture – they are unable to deliver – not because they are bad bankers or work for bad banks – they just get too distracted.  Being able to truly help my customers and have the support of the people I work alongside who help me deliver great service to my customers is one of my favorite things about representing Paragon Bank,” he shared.

“The element that allows for success in the last paragraph is the people – oh, the people.  The people I have the pleasure of working alongside is, without a doubt, my favorite part about working at Paragon Bank.  The team in Wilmington has all been tied together in some capacity for 15+ years.  We are family – we all love each other and just enjoy working with each other.  Bank mergers and acquisitions have shuffled us around over the years but the stars aligned in 2021.  In 2021, we joined Paragon Bank – we found a bank filled with people who shared the same motivation – taking care of customers and the culture that has been created by the Board and Senior Management supports this on a daily basis.  It seemed almost too good to be true in the beginning, but I have observed consistent delivery every single day – it can’t be accidental.  So our Wilmington work family actually got even better when we joined our new Memphis work family.  I come to work everyday and have the opportunity to work alongside some truly fantastic people in 2 different time zones who all enjoy what they do and are great at what they do.  The relationships that I have developed with my co-workers are irreplaceable and is one of my favorite parts about working for Paragon Bank,” he continued.

When he’s not in the office, he keeps busy walking a route of 3 miles every morning.

“It just helps get my day started and allows me to think about so much,” he offered. “Occasionally, I walk the same route at night — I have found that it helps me sleep a little bit better.”

Tyndall also loves college football, basketball and baseball. He’s a huge East Carolina Pirate fan.

“I often structure my schedule around these sporting events,” he chuckled.

Tyndall and his wife, Cheryl, share a son, Drew, who will catch some of the sporting events with him from time to time. The family is rounded out by two dalmatians, Jeter and Posey.

Thanks, John, for your continued dedication to Paragon! Congrats on your well-deserved recognition.
