Paragon Grants Wish for Make-A-Wish Mid-South for 11th Year in a Row
06-08-16
Paragon Bank recently worked with Make-A-Wish Mid-South to grant 16-year-old Walker his wish of going to Hawaii. This is the 11th straight year Paragon has worked with Make-A-Wish Mid-South to grant the wish of a child or teen.
“We look forward to working with Make-A-Wish every year and are grateful to have the resources to fulfill the wish of a child in the Mid-South,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “Our team went above and beyond, and worked hard to make sure the reveal was a surprise for Walker. Getting to see his reaction was priceless.”
On May 18, Walker arrived at the Fountain Place Banking Center with his family, where a flash mob was performed by Paragon employees and friends. At the end of the flash mob, everyone put on leis and invited Walker inside for a Hawaiian themed party. Before playing minute-to-win-it games and opening gifts, Walker learned that his wish of traveling to Hawaii had been granted.
As part of the bank’s Assisting the Community Through Service (ACTS) program, Paragon employees donated their time and efforts to prepare for and take part in the event. Additional donations were provided by One & Only BBQ, Hog Wild, Memphis Pizza Cafe, Chick-fil-A at Poplar and Massey, Wang’s Mandarin House, Chuck E. Cheese’s in DeSoto County, the Memphis Redbirds, Memphis Tigers Basketball and Memphis Tigers Baseball.
“We are in awe of the incredible job Paragon does to make the wish of a child come true each year,” said Amanda Wiig, Make-A-Wish Mid-South Communications Manager. “The time and dedication these employees put into the entire process is amazing, and we are honored to have them as a partner in our mission to enrich the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions.”
About Make-A-Wish Mid-South
Make-A-Wish Mid-South was founded in 1986, by a local businessman who recognized the need for an organization to help sick children in the Mid-South. Generous donors have allowed the chapter to grant nearly 5,000 wishes to critically ill children in the Mid-South.
