Paragon Displays Westminster Academy Artwork

03-01-13

Paragon National Bank will host artwork created by Westminster Academy students in the main
lobby of the bank’s Saddle Creek banking center throughout March. The exhibit,
which is the bank’s sixth student installation during the 2012 – 2013 school
year, is part of Paragon’s ongoing effort to display artwork from area schools
in its banking center. Past exhibits include work from students at Bodine
School, Dogwood Elementary School, Houston Middle School, St. Louis Catholic
School and Woodland Presbyterian School.

“We’ve really enjoyed showcasing
the work of the young, talented artists in our community and believe our
customers will appreciate the latest art on display from Westminster students,”
said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon.

The latest installation features a
variety of work created by students in grades seven to twelve. Seventh and
eighth grade students created pieces by using graphite on paper, while ninth
grade students used the planar approach to produce self portraits. Students in
the twelfth grade used a quote from John Milton’s “Paradise Lost” to develop their
own visualization of the statement through oil paints.

The work was created by Frannie
Kellum in seventh grade; Emily Jordan, Anna Lang, Cy Leist, Jonathan Thompson
and Kamryn Wong in eighth grade; John Garrett, Hope Howard and Georgianna Wells
in ninth grade; Emily Conrad, Grace Jorgensen, Nicole McCommon, Gia Rolen,
Annie Smith, Caroline Turner and Susie Wilson in twelfth grade.
