Paragon Showcases St. Louis Catholic School Art

11-01-12

Paragon National Bank will display art from
St. Louis Catholic School in its Saddle Creek branch (7600
Poplar Avenue) throughout
November. Paragon partnered with the school’s art teacher, Robin Durden, to
display artwork by 11 fifth grade students and ten junior high students. St.
Louis Catholic School, located in East Memphis, serves students in preschool
through eighth grade.

“It’s wonderful to walk into our bank lobby and see the
students’ artwork hanging on our walls,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive
Officer of Paragon. “These students are so talented and truly deserve to have
their work recognized.”

The fifth grade students created artwork inspired by Vincent
Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” series. The students drew sunflowers from observation,
using oil pastels to add color and texture. The imaginative work was created by
Alexis Connor, Zoie Couch, Erich DeWane, Caroline Evangelisti, Jackson Lyons,
Sarah Grace Price, Hughes Raiford, Geno Spiotta, Spencer Stalnaker, Nick Tooley
and Jeni Grace Wolbrecht.

The ten junior high students’ artwork consists of fall still
life pieces, which were created by mixing and overlaying new colors using
watercolor paints. The vibrant work was created by Eleanor Atkinson, Catherine
Broughton, Caroline Conrad, Drew Hendrix, Nate Huettel, Reid Lanigan, Lauren
Lewis, William Newsom, Hannah Shelton and William Thiel.
