The FBI is Not Coming to Pick Up Your Money

The FBI is Not Coming to Pick Up Your Money.

One of the hardest calls we take at Paragon is from someone who has lost their savings to a scam. We’d like to help make sure you never have to make that call.

There’s a scam making its way across the country, and it usually starts with a phone call. The person on the line says they’re with the FBI, the FDIC, or another government agency. They tell you your identity has been stolen, your accounts are tied to criminal activity, or your money is in danger. They often know enough about you to sound believable, and they may give you a case number or send documents that look official.

Then they offer to help. Your money, they say, needs to be moved somewhere safe.

They may tell you not to trust anyone, including your Paragon banker, your family, or your local police. They’ll ask you to keep it quiet so you don’t interfere with their “investigation.” Eventually, they’ll tell you to withdraw cash, buy gold, or sell investments so your money can be placed in a “government vault” or “federal locker.”

None of it is real. People have handed over their life savings believing they were helping the FBI. The people who showed up to collect it were criminals.

What a real government agency will never do:

The FBI, FDIC, and other legitimate agencies will never:
• Ask you to withdraw cash
• Tell you to buy gold or precious metals
• Send a courier to collect your money
• Ask you to move funds into a government account, locker, or vault
• Tell you to keep it from your bank, your family, or law enforcement

If you get a call like this:

✅ Hang up.
✅ Call your Paragon banker at a number you know is ours, or call us at (866) 504-5556.
✅ Talk it over with a family member you trust or your local police.
❌ Don’t withdraw money.
❌ Don’t buy gold or precious metals.
❌ Don’t meet a courier.
❌ Don’t keep it to yourself.

Call us before you move your money

Even if the caller says Paragon is part of the investigation, call us first. We’d much rather spend a few minutes on the phone helping you check something out than see you lose money you’ve spent years building.

Pass this along

Forward this to your parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors. One conversation today could keep someone you care about from losing money they can’t get back.

If something doesn’t feel right, call your banker. That’s what we’re here for.
