Paragon Grants 13th Wish for Make-A-Wish Mid-South
05-24-17
Paragon Bank worked with Make-A-Wish Mid-South to grant three-year-old Layken her wish of going to Walt Disney World. This is the 13th straight year Paragon has worked with Make-A-Wish Mid-South to grant the wish of a local child or teen. The ceremony took place May 23.
“At Paragon, we have a passion to help our community, but this annual event takes it to a whole new level,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “Bringing joy to a child who has been through so much at such a young age is truly remarkable and something we look forward to each year.”
To surprise Layken, the Paragon team created an island paradise, similar to the one in the movie “Moana,” and led her through an adventure to find hidden treasures. Layken played various games to win prizes and find clues with the grand prize of learning that she was headed to Walt Disney World.
As part of the bank’s Assisting the Community Through Service (ACTS) program, Paragon employees donated their time and efforts to prepare for and take part in the event. Additional donations were provided by Chick-fil-A at Poplar and Massey, Chuck E. Cheese’s in DeSoto County and Tug’s.
“We are grateful for the generosity and compassion the Paragon employees continuously show the children involved with our organization,” said Amanda Wiig, Communications Manager at Make-A-Wish Mid-South. “It is rewarding to not only have the opportunity to help enrich the lives of sick children, but also to see the community come together to make a child’s ultimate dream come true.”
About Make-A-Wish Mid-South
Make-A-Wish Mid-South was founded in 1986, by a local businessman who recognized the need for an organization to help sick children in the Mid-South. Generous donors have allowed the chapter to grant nearly 5,000 wishes to critically ill children in the Mid-South.
