Paragon Employees Volunteer at Mid-South Food Bank
09-13-13
Paragon National Bank organized a volunteer event at the Mid-South Food Bank for its
employees through the bank’s Assisting the Community Through Service (ACTS)
program. Some of the bank’s staff volunteered two hours at the nonprofit
facility, which enabled the Mid-South Food Bank to distribute 1,993 meals to
the community.
“I’m grateful that we have so many
employees who are driven to give back to their community and take advantage of
our ACTS program,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon
National Bank. “Over the years, we have built a strong relationship with the
Mid-South Food Bank and our team looks forward to continuing our support of
such a crucial organization in the Memphis community.”
Through the bank’s ACTS program,
each employee is granted one week of paid time to support local, regional and
national nonprofit organizations of their choosing. In 2013, Paragon’s staff
has contributed more than 320 hours to community organizations in and around
the Mid-South.
At the Mid-South Food Bank,
employees sorted food into categories and boxed items for the nonprofit to distribute
to families in the Mid-South. The Paragon volunteers included Lisa Barden,
Dorothy Cleaves, Mike Edwards, Michael Leonard, Steve Maury, Patrick O’Hearn,
Haley Overcast, Lewis Perkins, Jarmila Reed, Shaw, Andy Taylor, Douglas Vanover
and Lisa Word.
“We appreciate our partnership
with Paragon,” said Estella Mayhue-Greer, President and Chief Executive Officer
of the Mid-South Food Bank. “Enduring the 98 degree temperature in our
warehouse to help feed those in need exhibits the employees’ commitment to
meeting the needs in our community.”
