Robert Shaw Appointed Chairman of Woodland Presbyterian School Board of Directors

Paragon National Bank announced that Robert Shaw has been elected Chairman of the
Woodland Presbyterian School Board of Directors. Shaw, Chief Executive Officer
of Paragon, will serve a one-year term and will be responsible for leading all
of the school’s board meetings. Located in East Memphis, Woodland Presbyterian
School serves students in pre-kindergarten to eighth grade.

“I’m
honored to be selected for this position,” said Shaw. “This is an exciting time
in the history of Woodland with the construction of the new building and
extensive renovations about to begin. I’m extremely excited to begin my term as
chairman.”

For
the past three years, Shaw has served on Woodland Presbyterian School’s
Executive Committee as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Previously,
he served on the school board’s Finance Committee and was Chairman of the
Strategic Planning Task Force, which was a joint school-church unit responsible
for developing a long-term property plan for the school and church. Currently,
Shaw is a member of the school’s Building Committee, which is a church-school
team that works with architects, the senior pastor, and the head of school to
determine the final construction and renovation plans.

Woodland under his leadership,” said Adam Moore, Head of Woodland Presbyterian
School. “Woodland is blessed to have a chairman with the proven track record of
leadership and commitment to education that Mr. Shaw has. His commitments to
Woodland and the Memphis community are second to none.”

In
addition to Woodland Presbyterian School, Shaw is an active member of the
community through his work with several organizations. His involvement includes
serving on the Memphis Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors since 2009, as
well as the March of Dimes Memphis Division Board since 2008. He is currently a
serving his ninth year as a member of the Economic Club of Memphis. Previously,
Shaw was a member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association Board of Directors from
2009 to 2011.

Beginning in 1956, Woodland Presbyterian
School began as a ministry of Woodland Presbyterian Church and has educated children
of the Mid-South in a nurturing and challenging environment by promoting
academic excellence, spiritual development, social responsibility, and a
positive self-concept.  The school began
as a senior kindergarten class with thirty students, and today consists of two
sections of each grade from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, with a
student population that exceeds three hundred and sixty students. Woodland’s
mission is to promote academic excellence, spiritual development, social
responsibility, and a positive self-concept.
