Paragon Recognized for Community Involvement
01-23-08
Paragon National Bank today announced it has been recognized by the Memphis chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA) for its active participation in community service programs.
The bank received BOMA Memphis’ Community Involvement Award of Distinction for companies with 51-200 employees. Paragon National Bank’s Facilities Manager Pam Caviness was presented earlier this month with a crystal statuette to commemorate the honor. Caviness, who serves on the board of directors at BOMA Memphis, was instrumental in compiling entry information about Paragon’s extensive community outreach efforts.
Developed to increase awareness among business leaders of the many needs within the Memphis community and to encourage corporate participation in civic volunteering programs, BOMA’s Community Involvement Awards are among three Awards of Distinction presented by the group each year. The organization also acknowledges businesses for excellence in Water Features and Landscape Design.
Well known in Memphis for its outreach efforts, a majority of Paragon’s support is provided through service by its employees. Through its ACTS (Assisting the Community Through Service) program, Paragon grants 40 hours each year to all bank employees so they may volunteer their services to charitable organizations. Employees use their ACTS time during regular work days to provide help to dozens of local and national volunteer and charitable agencies. Paragon employees support charitable organizations in the Memphis community during evenings and weekends, too.
Among the numerous causes supported by the bank, Paragon employees are active in the Hands On Memphis Servathon and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Since its founding in 2005, Paragon has granted three wishes to seriously ill children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South. Paragon also adopted Ms. Kimberly Martin’s class at Hawkins Mill Elementary School in North Memphis in the fall of 2005 and, several times during the year, Paragon staff members visit the classroom to engage the children in different activities.
