Paragon Customers Make Possible the Granting of Another Wish

12-05-06

Paragon National Bank today announced that it has granted another Make-A-Wish Foundation® wish for a local child. Six-year-old Amber Frans arrived at Paragon’s Fountain Place branch yesterday afternoon and was surprised by the bank’s staff with a special version of the popular NBC series “Deal or No Deal.” The ultimate prize was Amber’s wish: a trip to Disney World. Amber and her family will travel to Disney World later this month.

“The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a wonderful organization and granting wishes is a highlight for everyone at Paragon,” said Robert Shaw, president.

Combining aspects of the game show and Amber’s love for all things “princess,” Paragon reworked the game so that Amber won prizes as she made her way to the grand prize. Paragon employees dressed as Disney® characters including Cinderella, Snow White, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse, held briefcases for Amber to choose, while the host was none other than Prince Charming. The bank, appropriately enough, stayed true to the game by having a mysterious banker call and offer Amber less than tempting offers. Amber confidently said, “No deal!” each time the banker called and her instincts paid off as Mickey and Minnie revealed at the end of the game that her wish to go to Disney World had been granted.

Paragon’s involvement with the organization began in February 2005 during its grand opening celebration.  At that time, the bank pledged $10 to Make-A-Wish of the Mid-South for every new account.  The first wish was granted in November 2005 and Gabby Rutledge and her family enjoyed a trip to Disney World.

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.  The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.  Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 144,000 children around the world.  Although it has become one of the world’s most well known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.  A network of more than 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.
