My Paragon
Lansky Bros: Hal Lansky
Lansky Bros. is a Memphis institution. Started in 1946 by Bernard Lansky, Lansky Bros. earned the tagline “Clothier to the King” when Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, became a regular and loyal customer over his entire illustrious career. Now meet Hal Lansky, second generation owner of Lansky Bros, who along with his daughter, Julie, have picked up the baton and run the successful clothier to this day.
He says, “Being in a retail setting if you don’t change, you’ll die. If we just sold navy blazers and white button-down shirts, we’d be out of business thirty years ago. If you come to Lansky’s to get a suit to go to your loan officer at the bank, then you probably won’t get the loan. But if you come to Lansky’s to get a suit that you want to be the bell of the ball at the party, then people will say, I know where you go that suit, that’s a Lansky’s suit!”
“We’re still a small business, but we’ve grown. Paragon is still a small business, and although they’ve grown, it still feels like you’re dealing with your community banker. It’s just a great relationship!” —Hal Lansky
