Paragon Sees 147 Percent Increase in Community Service Program

02-04-16

Paragon Bank today announced its employees volunteered over 1,480 hours through its Assisting the Community Through Service (ACTS) program in 2015. This is a 147 percent increase from 2014.

Through its ACTS program, every Paragon employee is granted 40 hours of paid time to support nonprofit organizations in the community. In addition to the allotted time, employees are encouraged to volunteer outside work hours. In 2015, 89 percent of employees participated in the program and spent an average of 20.2 hours volunteering.

“As a locally owned bank, we strive to give back to our community, and are thankful to have the resources to allow our employees to participate in a program such as ACTS,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “I could not be more proud and humbled by the service our team provides everyday at work as well as through their volunteering. It’s rewarding to know that we’re making a difference.”

Since the program’s inception in 2008, employees have spent more than 4,500 hours volunteering at a variety of local, regional and national nonprofits. In 2015, Paragon employees volunteered with 69 organizations including, Make-A-Wish Mid-South, Memphis Child Advocacy Center, Germantown Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Mid-South, the Le Bonheur Club, Hawkins Mill Elementary School and the Neighborhood Christian Center.

“Paragon provides so many opportunities for our team to volunteer in our community,” said Haley Overcast, Marketing Manager at Paragon Bank. “I particularly enjoy visiting our adopted classroom of third graders at Hawkins Mill. It’s a pleasure to join their teacher Ms. Martin to support her efforts, and after spending time with such a fun group of eager kids, I always leave feeling more fulfilled than when I arrived.”
