Paragon Sees Increase in United Way Campaign Results

10-31-12

Paragon National Bank recently completed its annual campaign for the United Way of the
Mid-South, noting a significant increase in both employee participation and
contributions for the year. Compared to its 2011 campaign, the bank experienced
a 70% increase in employee participation and a 147% increase in the total
amount raised in 2012. The 2012 campaign total includes a match from an
anonymous donor.

“Our employees’ participation
during the bank’s United Way campaign is an extension of their commitment to
service,” said Robert Shaw, CEO of Paragon. “We remain focused on supporting
the community through our efforts both inside and outside of Paragon and I’m
extremely proud of our team for consistently challenging themselves to do
more.”

Paragon hosted an official
kick-off breakfast to announce the 2012 United Way campaign to employees. The
event featured Shelby County Commissioner Chris Thomas, who discussed Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis, the impact it had on his life and how
important the United Way is for nonprofit and community organizations. Thomas’
Big Brother was Mike Edwards, Paragon’s President and COO, and the two have
continued their relationship for the last 35 years.

Following the kick-off event,
employees were offered incentives to participate during the two-week campaign
through company drawings and giveaways, which helped the bank set a record
involvement rate and exceed the campaign fundraising goals for the year.

“It was inspiring to see our
employees work together during my first United Way campaign with Paragon,” said
Edwards. “I have witnessed the impact that community organizations, like Big
Brothers Big Sisters, have on young people and I’m proud to be a part of a team
that’s actively working to make a difference in Memphis.”
