How does Paragon Bank protect my private information?

At Paragon Bank, the security of your private information is our highest priority. In addition to our strict policy regarding the sharing of personal information, view our Privacy Notice.

We use encryption technology to prevent unauthorized access to your data whenever possible.

Fraud Text Alerts for Paragon Bank Debit Cards

Paragon Bank includes an additional level of security by screening all debit card transactions through our real-time AI fraud detection engine and sending text alerts to verify any suspicious transactions. This simple two-way text communications helps identify and stop fraudulent transactions as they occur.

How it works:

  1. When a suspicious transaction identified on your Paragon debit card, you will receive a text message.
  2. You should then respond to the text with either a V to verify the charge or F to report the charge as fraud depending on whether you authorized the transaction in question.

All card-related transactions are included in the Fraud Text Alert program as an enhancement to our existing fraud prevention procedures. Text messages sent from Paragon Bank will come from short code 96923. Phone calls will originate from 1-800-237-8990. Please add this phone number and short code to your contacts and label it “Paragon Fraud Center” (or something similar), that way you will know the call or text is valid. When the fraud is confirmed via text or email, it will ask you to call back the following number: 855-293-2456.

How do I protect my information online?

In addition to the measures we take to ensure the protection of your private information, there are steps you should take as well. Here are some ways you can safeguard your information:

  1. Strengthen your internet banking password. Your password should be a minimum of 8 characters, and it should contain one lowercase character and one special character. For example, instead of using “hoops,” use “like!2pbB” for “I like to play basketball.” We also encourage you to change your password often.
  2. Understand and take steps to prevent identity theft. Visit the Federal Trade Commission website at https://www.consumer.ftc.gov or call 877.438.4338 to learn how to prevent identity theft and what to do if you become a victim.
  3. Check your credit annually. Contact all three major credit reporting companies annually to review your file, since each derives information from different sources. These include:
  4. Guard against check fraud. Make sure to safeguard checks at home and on your person – never leave them in your car or workplace. Shred any unused checks before disposal, even if they are from a closed account. Notify Paragon Bank and the U.S. Postal Service authorities if newly ordered checks or routine bank statements do not arrive in a timely manner. And finally, check your balance frequently.
