Paragon Small Business Capital Group, a division of Paragon Bank, has hired Carolyn Taylor as a Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan Closing Associate, and promoted Sylvia Bordeaux and Daniel Vo to Vice President. Taylor will report to Daniel Vo, Vice President, while Bordeaux and Vo will report to Kerri Morrin, Chief Operating Officer.
“Carolyn’s knowledge and extensive experience with small business clients make her a strong asset to our growing Small Business Capital Group,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “Additionally, Sylvia and Daniel have been pivotal to our success, and their new roles will allow our team to further expand the comprehensive service offerings available to small business customers.”
In her new role, Taylor is responsible for packaging, processing, closing and funding SBA loans. Additionally, she initiates third party vendor reports and manages construction draws. These tasks branch out from the overall responsibility of customer service. Prior to joining the Paragon team, Taylor was an SBA Administrator, which included liquidating assets and selling loans on the secondary market.
Taylor received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Va., where she double majored in Sociology and English. She has volunteered with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Community Chorus “One Voice,” and during her free time, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar and spending time outdoors.
As Vice Presidents, Bordeaux and Vo are responsible for managing the daily functions of the Small Business Capital Group Loan Operations Department, including SBA loan booking and investor servicing parameter setup and maintenance, insurance and property tax monitoring, completing audits and overseeing quality control prior to loan closing and funding. They also work closely with investors to ensure timely settlements and accurate reporting.
Bordeaux received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. She invests time outside of work by volunteering at church and with Bridging the Gap Community Outreach. Before working at Paragon, she was an AVP SBA Loan Operations Manager at Cornerstone Bank. Vo graduated from Georgia State University and enjoys playing basketball during his free time. Prior to joining Paragon, Vo was an AVP Closing Manager at Cornerstone Bank.

Paragon Bank has announced the promotions of Cheryl Shackelford and Tracey Thesmar to First Vice Presidents, both of whom report to Lewis Perkins, Chief Financial Officer at Paragon Bank.
“We are honored to have such loyal, hardworking individuals as Cheryl and Tracey on the Paragon team, as they work diligently to provide the best solutions to fit the needs of our customers,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “Both recently celebrated 10 years with us, continuously setting a high standard for customer service and integrity.”
As First Vice President, Shackelford manages the Deposit Operations Department where she oversees customer service, deposit maintenance, bank statement generation, and cash management support. Thesmar manages the Accounting Department, coordinates internal and external audits and processes payroll. Prior to joining Paragon, Shackelford was a Treasury Management Support Manger at a local community bank, while Thesmar was a VP Controller at a local bank.
Shackelford received her associate’s degree in business data processing from State Technical Institute at Memphis (now Southwest Tennessee Community College). She is a decade-long member and supporter of the Great Smoky Mountains Association and enjoys indoor and outdoor home improvement projects. In her free time, she watches the Memphis Grizzlies and Redbirds and spends time with her family and four granddaughters.
Thesmar graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration. As a certified accountant, she is a member of AICPA and TSCPA. She volunteers by serving in various roles with the Junior League of Memphis, Le Bonheur Club, Memphis Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association and Junior League of Memphis Garden Club. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling.
Paragon Bank has promoted Haley Overcast to Marketing Manager. Overcast joined the bank in 2012 and most recently served as Marketing Coordinator. She will continue reporting to Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank.
“Haley has been a tremendous asset to the Paragon team for more than two years,” said Shaw. “We are constantly impressed by her professionalism, work ethic and creative abilities – all qualities we depend on to position Paragon with both current and prospective clients.”
As Marketing Manager, Overcast is charged with designing internal marketing pieces, maintaining article archives, preparing employee presentations, managing the bank’s social media presence and ensuring collateral materials are available in all four of Paragon’s banking centers. She also coordinates community events, maintains and updates website content, and serves as the company’s photographer.
Prior to joining Paragon, Overcast served as a Marketing Intern with New Ballet Ensemble. She earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish from Furman University. Through Paragon, she volunteers with Make-A-Wish Mid-South, Mid-South Food Bank, Shelby County School’s Adopt-A-School Program (Hawkins Mill) and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. In her spare time, Overcast works with the children’s ministry at Second Presbyterian Church, enjoys traveling and is an active supporter of Ole Miss football.
