Paragon Wealth Solutions LPL Registered Sales Assistant: Audrey Liles

Paragon Bank has appointed Audrey Liles as an LPL Registered Sales Assistant of its Wealth Solutions team. Liles reports to Staci Jackson, Charles Hardee and Brooks Monypeny, Managing Partners and Wealth Advisors of the Paragon Wealth Solutions team.

As an LPL Registered Sales Assistant, Liles provides client services and advisor support by fielding phone calls, placing unsolicited trades, solving operational issues, handling account maintenance and scheduling meetings. Additionally, she manages operational needs such as processing paperwork, tracking and paying invoices and submitting compliance requirements.

Since earning her Bachelor of Arts in marketing from the University of Tennessee, Liles has consulted branch personnel such as advisors, sales assistance and operations managers on the benefits of leveraging technology to enhance business functions. She also processed paperwork to open and maintain fee based accounts for the Morgan Keegan Wealth Management platform.

Paragon Wealth Solutions Managing Partner: Charles Hardee

Paragon Bank announced Charles Hardee as Managing Partner and Wealth Advisor of its Wealth Solutions team in November 2014. Hardee reports to Dan Overbey, President and Managing Director of Paragon Wealth Solutions, and Mike Edwards, President and Chief Operation Officer at Paragon Bank.

As a Managing Partner and Wealth Advisor, Hardee is responsible for managing client assets and aligning their investments to help work towards personal financial goals. Paragon Bank Appoints Wheetley as First Vice President of Information Technology

Paragon Bank has selected Troy Wheetley as First Vice President of Information Technology. Wheetley will report to Lewis Perkins, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

“Troy has an impressive track record in the information technology field, making him a valuable asset to the company,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “His experience and deep roots in the Memphis community will allow him to successfully serve our clients and the team here at Paragon, especially as our IT needs continue to increase.”

In his new role, Wheetley is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the information technology department, including working with management to set strategic initiatives, building technology plans and establishing information security standards to benefit both customers and employees. In addition to these ongoing tasks, he will review and implement new and emerging technology to complement the bank’s primary objective of raising expectations of what a financial institution should be.

Prior to joining Paragon Bank, Wheetley worked as an IT consultant for Sawyers and Jacobs, LLC, and was the Director of Information Technology at Evangelical Christian School for more than 10 years. Wheetley received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology Management from Christian Brothers University. 

Paragon Bank Announces Wealth Solutions Division

Paragon Bank has announced the formation of the Paragon Wealth Solutions division. The new division was created to assist customers with retirement and investment planning, as well as small business strategies. The group is comprised of six professionals with over 120 years of financial services and asset management experience.

“We pride ourselves on strategic growth while maintaining a focus on serving the needs of our customers,” said Robert Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Paragon Bank. “With individuals and small business owners in mind, we look forward to enabling more people reach their investment and retirement goals.”

The Paragon Wealth Solutions team will be made up of four wealth advisors: Staci Jackson, Mark Winburne, Kent “Brooks” Monypeny and Charles Hardee.

·       Jackson, who joined the Paragon team in March 2014, has more than 15 years of investment management and financial services experience and recently opened the Memphis branch location of Atlantic Capital Advisors.

·       Winburne, who was appointed in July of this year, has worked as a financial advisor since 1993 and holds Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 financial licenses.

·       Monypeny has over three decades of experience and holds numerous securities licenses including Series 6, 7 and 52, among others.

·       Hardee has been in the securities industry for 20 years and holds a Series 7 license, as well as a state securities and insurance license.

Monypeny and Hardee joined the division on November 3, 2014. The team will be led by Dan Overbey, President and Managing Director, and sales support will be steered by Audrey Liles.

The group will focus on a wide range of strategic plans, including business investments, companywide retirement and individual retirement planning. Paragon Wealth Solutions has affiliated with LPL Financial to provide equities, mutual funds and bonds annuities for businesses and individuals.

This new division of Paragon Bank, combined with the bank’s Mortgage, Cash Management, Insurance, BusinessManager and Payroll Solutions, should provide for a significant increase in non-interest revenues for the company. By offering this suite of products, Paragon Bank is expanding beyond the traditional banking infrastructure to provide solutions to help make its customers’ lives simpler.

Paragon Appoints Michael Leonard as VP of Private Banking

Paragon National Bank has named Michael
Leonard as Vice President of Private Banking. In this role, he is responsible
for providing custom banking solutions to business owners, executives, doctors
and professionals in the Memphis market. Leonard will report to Wayne
Littleton, Paragon’s Senior Vice President of Private Banking and Manager of
Private Banking.

“Michael’s strong background in banking and dedication to
customer satisfaction made him a natural addition to our team,” said Littleton.
“His appointment will further enhance our ability to maximize our customers’
time by handling all aspects of their banking needs through Paragon’s array of
personalized solutions.”

Prior to his appointment, Leonard was a banker at a large
regional financial organization, where he spent time working in the branches,
as well as in the private wealth management department. He received his
bachelor’s degree in finance from Auburn University and earned his Certificate
in Financial Planning from Christian Brothers University.

In his free time, Leonard volunteers his time to Dorothy Day
House of Hospitality, Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South and Junior
Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South.

Paragon Names Edwards as President and Chief Operating Officer

Chief Executive Officer Robert Shaw announced the appointment of Mike A. Edwards as its President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Paragon National Bank. In his new role, Edwards is responsible for the continued development of Paragon’s loan and deposit lines of business, as well as enhancing existing customer relationships and establishing new connections.

“I have known Mike personally and professionally for over 25 years and have a great amount of respect for his accomplishments as a financial services leader,” said Shaw. “His familiarity with and commitment to our local community, as well as his demonstrated success as a banking executive with a strong customer focus make him uniquely qualified to fulfill this new role on Paragon’s executive team. Edwards’ career in banking and financial services spans more than 30 years at a regional financial institution in Tennessee, including 25 years directly serving the Mid-South region. While there, he held many key leadership positions and helped oversee expansion within several markets. Edwards received his bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in finance and accounting from Rhodes College and attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University and the Barrett School of Banking at the University of Memphis. He currently serves as a member of The Orpheum Theatre Memphis board and the Shelby Farms Park Conservancy board, and is the 2011 Chair Elect of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra board. Paragon Appoints Perkins as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President

Paragon National Bank announced the appointment of Lewis W. Perkins, III as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Vice President. In this role, he is responsible for financial reporting, fee-based businesses, liquidity, deposit operations, information systems, property management and asset liability management.

A local Memphian, Perkins previously served as Audit Partner at Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck PLC, where he was responsible for reviewing financial statement audits of financial institutions for compliance with applicable standards, providing consulting services to financial institution clients and supervising staff in the financial institution niche.

“I have known Lewis for many years and I’m extremely excited to welcome him to our team,” said Robert Shaw, Paragon’s President. “His concentrated work with community banks over the last three years has provided him with in-depth knowledge of bank accounting and regulatory matters.”

Perkins received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in accounting from the University of Memphis. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Tennessee Society of CPAs, where he serves on the Financial Institution Committee. In his free time, Perkins attends his children’s numerous athletic events and performances.

Perkins replaces Michael Erhardt, who is leaving the bank to pursue a career with Vining Sparks IBG, LP, though Erhardt will remain a Paragon shareholder.  

Bill Freeman Joins Paragon’s Commercial Lending Team

Paragon National Bank announced that Bill Freeman has joined their team as a commercial lender.

“Bill’s experience and his dedication to customer service will make him a great complement to our team,” said B. Gordin McMurtry, Sr. Vice President of Commercial Lending. 

Freeman has over 13 years of experience in banking and earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Florida.  His previous positions have included Senior Business Banker, Construction Lender, Branch Manager, and Personal Banker.

“I’ve always heard good things about Paragon over the years from former colleagues who are now here,” said Freeman.  “I’ve actually had an account here since Paragon opened so I know how they operate and treat their customers, and I’m excited to be a part of that kind of team.”

Paragon Welcomes Marshall Talley as Senior Credit Officer and Senior VP

Paragon National Bank announced the addition of Marshall Talley as Senior Credit Officer and Senior Vice President.

He will be responsible for Paragon’s loan policy and compliance, and he will monitor the quality of the loan portfolio.

“Marshall’s experience as a Senior Credit Officer makes him a perfect match for this role,” said Robert Shaw, President and CEO of Paragon. “He has over 20 years of experience in banking, and we’re confident that adding him to the team will have a very positive impact on our loan program.”

Talley attended Memphis State University, where he received his BBA in Accounting. He and his wife Angel have a blended family of six children ranging in age from two years to 20 years.

Paragon Adds to Commercial Lending Team

Paragon National Bank announced that Emily Friedman has joined their team as a commercial lender.

“We feel very fortunate to now have Emily on our team,” said Gordin McMurtry, Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending at Paragon National Bank. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with her in the past, and I’m especially pleased that she’s come to Paragon because she’s such an experienced lender, and her contact base is very impressive.”      

Friedman has over thirty years of experience in banking, and she specializes in meeting and exceeding sales goals and maintaining an established network of professional contacts and relationships.  Friedman earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., with an emphasis on finance.  She is also a graduate of the Tennessee Banker’s School and the National Commercial Lending School.  She has served as the chairperson of various committees in the National Association of Bank Women, to which she has belonged since 1981.

“A major part of the reason I came to Paragon is their emphasis on staying local,” Friedman said.  “They make local decisions and I think that’s best because it’s Memphians who really know the Memphis market.”
