Evaluate the cost of living in a new area as you’re viewing homes there. Though the home itself may have an appealing price, it’s important to consider other costs in the neighborhood as well. Evaluate the average price for utilities, groceries, healthcare, transportation, and other needs to make sure you can comfortably afford to live in the area.
Identify nearby amenities. How far will you have to drive to reach your favorite grocery store? Is there a playground nearby for your kids? Are you near healthcare providers that are covered by your insurance? Make sure your neighborhood provides convenient access to the things that matter most, whether that’s an expansive park for hiking, a sizable local library, a great gym, or something else.
Visit the neighborhood at different times of the day. Drive through the neighborhood on a Saturday night to see if the area is quiet or bustling.
